Talarico pretending to be moderate ahead of election, Texas campaign strategist says in undercover footage

On Thursday's episode of The Rubin Report, Dave Rubin analyzed senate candidate James Talarico's sudden reversal on a number of issues that, in the past, he's taken extreme positions on. Dave broke down the inauthenticity of Talarico's claim that he believes there are just two sexes -- after previously having declared there are six sexes. Dave also exposed how Talarico is not even close to being a "border security Democrat," no matter what he now says. 

By Thursday evening, The Daily Wire published a report that included undercover footage of a Democrat strategist in Texas insisting that Talarico is merely saying one thing in an effort to appeal to moderate and conservative voters, and that he still holds the extremist positions he spent years staking out. 

When asked why Talarico would walk back his previous statements, Jennifer Miranda, a manager with Texas Together and the Texas Democratic Party, is heard in the footage saying, "I would say right now he’s trying to target a wider net, which unfortunately means being more palatable to Republicans here in Texas. He does believe the things that he’s said before," Miranda added. “He really needs to win those Texans over.”

When asked if Talarico's "support for trans children has not changed," she said that his controversial views on the topic haven't changed. 

“You talk to some Republicans, and they’re very Republican, especially here in Texas … very, very to the right,” she said. As a Texas state representative, Talarico in 2021 voted against a measure requiring youth athletes to compete in sports that aligned with their sex at birth. Miranda is paid through a political action committee founded by former staffers on Beto O'Rourke's campaigns, according to The Daily Wire.

Earlier this week, Talarico tried to walk back his previous statements that there are six genders and insisted he believed biological males identifying as transgender girls should not be competing in girls' sports, although he dodged the part of the question about whether adult transgender athletes should be allowed to compete in women's sports.
