The effects of President Trump's tough border policies since returning to the White House in 2025 are abundantly evident in the latest statistics compiled by the Homeland Security Department, which showed zero immigrants caught at the border trying to enter the U.S. were released into the country in March. It was the eleventh straight month border patrol agents have prevented a single illegal from making it into the U.S., according to the statistics.

The Washington Examiner reported the new numbers this week, which show a historic turnaround from what was happening at the southern border during the Biden administration. Just two years ago, in March 2024, more than 78,000 illegal immigrants were released at the border and allowed to enter the U.S.

There were 8,268 “apprehensions along the southwest border in March,” assistant DHS Secretary Lauren Bis told The Washington Examiner. That total marks a 97% decrease from December 2023, the height of the border crisis during Biden's lone term. Bis said the total was also “90% lower than the monthly average” in the last 33 years.

Markwayne Mullin, the new secretary of Homeland Security, hailed Trump's policies as the catalyst behind the dramatic turnaround. “Eleven straight months of zero releases at the border. Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, we are delivering the most secure border in American history,” Mullin said. “The world knows America’s borders are closed to lawbreakers.”

Arrests and deportations have also been ongoing. Bill Melugin of Fox News reported this week that ICE has now arrested 453,000 criminal illegal aliens, meaning illegals who have been charged with or convicted of committing crimes in the U.S. on top of illegally entering the country have been taken into custody and are awaiting deportation, or have already been deported.

Still, illegal immigrants allowed into the country during the Biden administration are wreaking havoc as ICE in some cases is still facing interference from Democrat run state and local governments that refuse to work with federal agents to apprehend illegal immigrants.
