An illegal immigrant has been arrested for allegedly bludgeoning a woman to death outside of a gas station in broad daylight, a shocking attack that was captured in surveillance footage. Homeland Security officials say the suspect was caught illegally entering the U.S. in 2022 and was subsequently released into the U.S. under then-President Biden's open-border policies.

Rolbert Joachim, an illegal immigrant from Haiti, is the man seen in the security footage savagely beating a woman seconds after she walked out of a Fort Myers gas station last week. Joachim, 40, is seen in the video repeatedly hitting the defenseless woman with a hammer as she lies on the pavement, before abruptly storming off. The woman, whose identity has not been made public yet, died of injuries suffered in the brutal beating.

Joachim was charged with second-degree murder after local police worked with ICE to apprehend him. Joachim broke into the U.S. in August 2022, and was released into the country before a federal judge ordered his deportation later that year, according to Fox News. However, he was granted Temporary Protected Status under an order from Biden that gave Haitians living in the U.S. illegally broad protections.

The killing is the latest in a string of violent crimes blamed on illegal immigrants who were allowed to remain in the country during the Biden administration. In a post on X, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said, "This horrific murder was preventable. Even as Florida arrests hundreds of criminal aliens every day, four years of the Biden admin’s open-border policies continue to wreak havoc on our communities."

"This illegal alien barbarically hit this woman in the head multiple times with a hammer," DHS acting assistant secretary Lauren Bis wrote in a statement. "This heinous murderer was RELEASED into the country by the Biden administration. Bis added, "Their reckless immigration policies cost this woman her life."

Regardless of the legal outcome of the case, ICE said Joachim will be deported, according to Fox News. Below, watch redacted surveillance footage of the brutal crime.
