America's second family added a new member on Sunday with the birth of Alec Neel Vance, Vice President JD Vance's and second lady Usha Vance's fourth child.

“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning,” the Vances announced in a statement posted on social media. “Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”

Alec Neel Vance's birth is historic and rare given that it marks the first time in more than 150 years that a sitting vice president and his wife have welcomed a baby. The last time a U.S. vice president had a baby while in office was back in 1870 when then-veep Schuyler Colfax and Ellen Wade, his second wife, had a son, Schuyler Colfax III, according to The Associated Press.

Prior to that, Vice President John Calhoun and Floride Bonneau, welcomed a son named William in 1829.

The Vance family had yet to share photos of Alec as of Monday morning, but President Trump posted an photo of Alec and two of his older siblings on Truth Social early on Monday, with a message saying, "Congratulations! A perfect baby boy for the wonderful Vance family." The couple received messages of congratulations on social media from the White House and from people throughout Trumpworld and beyond.

Late last month, Usha Vance found herself at the center of a mini controversy after the chief fashion critic at The New York Times wrote a column breaking down the second lady's "body-hugging" maternity wear. In response, Vance revealed one of the dresses mentioned in the column was purchased from Old Navy for $8.75.

The Vances' other children are Ewan, 9, Vivek, 6, and 4-year-old Mirabel.
