President Trump reacts to Jeanine Pirro dropping charges against the suspect in the Reflecting Pool vandalism case.

President Donald Trump on Monday reacted to news that the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia dropped criminal charges against a former Olympian who was accused of vandalizing the reflecting pool at the Lincoln Memorial.

Late Friday evening, Jeanine Pirro announced in a court filing that her office was dropping the charges against 67-year-old David Hearn, a former Olympic canoeist. Pirro had brought the felony case against Hearn after he was indicted by a grand jury in early July for destruction of property, a crime that carries a possible 10-year prison sentence. In her filing, Pirro said new information had come to light showing the contractor's "flawed installation" led to the damage to the pool's bottom, according to CNBC. 

After writing "I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro" on Truth Social over the weekend, Trump didn't hold back while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office on Monday. 

"Jeanine Pirro made a mistake. It was vandalism," Trump said in response to a question about whether he's spoken to Pirro about her decision. “I was disappointed with Jeanine Pirro, really disappointed with Jeanine Pirro,” Trump said. “She folded like an umbrella, and people get away with things, and it’s a disgrace.” At one point, the president added that he believes Pirro "choked." According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump has discussed removing Pirro from her post with advisers.
