Donald Trump has often spoken of "so much winning" happening when he is president. He may as well have been talking about his record as an endorser in GOP primaries, because, as CNN polling guru Harry Enten pointed out, Trump's record with endorsements is nearly perfect.

"He is a GOAT when it comes to Republican primaries. He is a Tom Brady, he is a Babe Ruth," Enten declared, before diving into the numbers. Trump-endorsed candidates had a 98% winning percentage in 2020, the winning percentage dipped a little to 95% in 2022, and then inched back up a little to 96% in 2024 as Trump was barreling to his second electoral victory. These numbers could prove prescient now that the 2026 midterm cycle is under way in earnest.

According to Enten, the near-perfect winning percentage is not due to Trump only picking the easy races. "Even when he endorses challengers against incumbents, the challengers win the majority of the time," Enten pointed out.

So, what's really behind this success-rate?

Trump's unprecedented popularity within his own party, according to Enten. Compared to the other 21st century presidents, Trump far outpaces Obama and George W. Bush when it comes to support from members of their own party. While Obama and W notched 77% job approval ratings from their respective parties, Donald Trump enjoys an 86% approval rating among Republican voters. Watch the video below to see more on how uniquely popular Trump is as president among his own party.
