Trump bans CNN, MS NOW, Politico 'effective immediately' over dishonest coverage

President Trump announced Friday that he's banning three news outlets from the White House over what he says has been repeated with dishonest and unfair negative coverage. 

The president made the announcement on Truth Social, saying, "Effective immediately, I am banning Fake News CNN, MS NOW (who recently changed their name from MSNBC due to lack of viewership and credibility!), and Politico (The recipients of an illegal and ridiculous $8 Million Dollar subscription, an All Time Record, directly from the United States Government, under Crooked Joe Biden, in order to keep them 'alive.' Seems like corruption to me!), from the White House as a result of their constant “reporting” FAKE NEWS!"

MS NOW, which until recently was known as MSNBC, is an almost 24-7 stream of anti-Trump coverage, and CNN over the last decade has taken a largely hostile posture toward Trump. Both trafficked heavily in the Russia collusion and "very fine people" hoaxes, among others. Politico has often taken a combative approach to its coverage of Trump. 

It wasn't immediately clear which particular story or stories drove Trump's decision, but the banishment comes at the end of a week in which nearly all mainstream media heavily amplified Democrat talking points touting the threats of A.I. development and calls for government and inter-governmental regulation on A.I.

CNN as long been a foil for Trump, one that he has at times seemed to relish sparring with. Back in June, Trump singled out Kaitlan Collins, one of CNN's most high-profile personalities, during a clash in the Oval Office.

"CNN's a very corrupt organization, with a corrupt reporters, standing right there," Trump said, pointing toward Collins. "A young, beautiful woman — never smiles! I never see a smile on her face. I see her standing there with hatred in her eyes." For the foreseeable future, Trump won't have to see that hatred as Collins along with the rest of CNN's press corps will be barred from the White House. 

Trump was questioned about the decision on Friday during a question-and-answer session with reporters, and he said the constant stream of "fake news" coming from the three outlets influenced his decision. "Our country has to have honest news," Trump said. "You need a fair and free press."
