Tiger Woods pleads no contest to reckless driving charge, loses license for 5 years

Golf legend Tiger Woods appeared in a Florida courtroom on Wednesday and pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge stemming from his rollover crash that made national headlines earlier this year. A Marin County judge suspended his driver's license for five years.

Vanessa Trump, the president's former daughter-in-law and Woods' current girlfriend, joined him during the court appearance, arriving at court with him and sitting behind him during the proceedings in what was a largely empty courtroom. Woods was taken into custody after the rollover crash in late March and pleaded not guilty at the time to a DUI charge. Police said they found pain pills in his pocket upon searching him after the crash.

Woods, 50, accepted a plea deal that reduced the DUI charge to a reckless driving charge and was issued two fines in the amount of $1,000 and $500, according to Page Six. He also had his license suspended for five years and was given a stern warning by the Florida judge. “If you drive for any reason at all, you will be going back to jail," the judge told Woods. 

Earlier this year, Woods spent several weeks in rehab at a facility in Switzerland and had kept a low profile for months. The golf great made his first public appearance last week, prompting some fans to express concern over his appearance in a video that was posted on social media.
