Special counsel who led Trump investigations spotted wearing 'No Kings' T-shirt

The special counsel who led multiple investigations into President Trump while he was running for a second term in office was seen on video over the weekend wearing a 'No Kings' T-shirt, prompting a sharp response from a White House official.
Jack Smith was seen wearing the shirt in videos and photos posted on social media while attending a so-called "power to the people" concert in Maryland on Saturday.
"Jack Smith is a scumbag who was the partisan attack rat for Democrats who weaponized the justice system against President Trump for political purposes," White House communications director Steven Cheung said in a post on X. "Don't think they won't go after innocent Americans again if they get their way."
Smith, who was exalted by the mainstream media as a beacon of impartiality during Biden's lone term, had his federal case -- and all of the charges he was seeking against Trump -- thrown out by a federal judge in July 2024, just days after Trump was shot in an assassination attempt. Judge Aileen Cannon at the time ruled that Smith had been improperly appointed as special counsel and improperly funded by the Treasury Department. Later that year, Smith's other indictment against Trump was withdrawn after the American people elected Trump to a second term in office.
Earlier this year, Cannon blocked Smith from releasing his final report on the investigation, accusing him of trying to circumvent her 2024 ruling to toss the case. Smith, along with New York Attorney General Letitia James, has become a poster child for Biden-era lawfare meant to prevent Trump from returning to the White House. “I am not a politician and I have no partisan loyalty,” he told members of Congress during a hearing on Capitol Hill last week.
But it sure didn't look that way in the images of him from over the weekend. The 57-year-old career prosecutor was attending the "power to the people concert" the Merriweather Post Pavilion concert venue in Columbia, Maryland. The show featured performers like Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Public Enemy, Joan Baez, and others. "Free, free Palestine" chants were heard at the concert, according to Fox News, as well as an endless stream of anti-Trump rhetoric.
Below, watch a short clip of Smith making his way through the crowd while holding a cup of beer.
