Shocking poll finds 30% of Democrats support assassination of Trump

A new poll released this week shows the lengths to which Trump Derangement Syndrome has overwhelmed rank-and-file Democrats in the U.S. The poll found Democrats want Trump out of office "by (almost) any means necessary," with more than 30% of those surveyed responding that they would have a very positive or somewhat positive reaction to President Trump being assassinated. 

The poll, conducted by a think tank called Liberal Currents, found that Trump's impeachment by Congress and removal from office is Democrats' most preferred method for Trump's downfall, with 87% of respondents indicating they would have a positive reaction to that outcome. More than 80% also support Trump's Cabinet using the 25th Amendment to declare Trump unfit for office and removing him. 

The poll results then take a much darker turn, with 55% of those surveyed responding that they would be very positive or somewhat positive if "Trump died overnight in his sleep." Of those surveyed, 23% responded that they'd be "very positive" about Trump being taken out by and assassin, with another 9% indicating they would be somewhat positive about such a grim outcome. Some 13% said they would be indifferent to an assassination. Just 32% of Democrats polled said their response would be "very negative" to such a violent turn. 

Trump, of course, has been the target of multiple assassination attempts and threats, in recent years, and was shot in the ear while speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024.

Almost 60% of those surveyed would support a military coup to remove Trump from office. The poll findings were released in a report titled "What are Democrats thinking?" -- an extremely good question -- and surveyed rank-and-file members of the party on a range of topics, including who they want as their presidential nominee in 2028. Kamala Harris was the top choice among voters, according to the poll results, although she is not viewed as a convincing frontrunner. Democrat "voters still aren’t rallying around a single 2028 standard bearer yet. It seems likely that this state will persist through at least next year," the report said.

Nearly 60% of the Democrats polled responded that they are either "very woke" or "somewhat woke," which explains much of the above results. Democrat voters were polled on a host of issues. Another one that stood out was: "The percentage of Democrats who support the next Democratic president expanding the Supreme Court is slightly higher, at 69%," according to the results. 

Meanwhile, a separate Gallup Poll released on Wednesday showed that, for the first time in the polling outfit's history, more than 40% of Americans view socialism favorably. The poll found 43% of Americans have a positive view of socialism. Not surprisingly, the rise in socialism's popularity in America is driven by Democrats. "Most of the increase in socialism’s positive rating through 2025 reflected increasingly positive views among Democrats, rising from 50% in 2010 to 66%," Gallup reported.
