Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber, one of the most prolific power hitters in the game of baseball today, smashed a two-run home run in the the fifth inning, breaking a 1-1 tie and propelling the U.S. to an eventual 9-1 blowout victory over Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic on Saturday night.

The towering home run ball traveled 427 feet into the upper deck seats in right field at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Those types of majestic home runs hit by the 33-year-old lefty have come to be known as "Schwarbombs" by Philadelphia fans, who adore Schwarber for the crucial role he's played in the team's recent post-season runs.

"I think the emotional side of that is what we're wearing across our chest: USA," Schwarber told reporters in a post-game press conference. MLB players haven't been shy about showing their American pride since the WBC classic kicked off last week. Schwarber's Phillies teammate Bryce Harper didn't mince words in an interview ahead of the tournament, saying, "I'm proud to be an American."

And Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes said there was "no greater honor" than representing the U.S. on the world stage. Next up for Team USA is a game against Mexico on Monday night.

Below, see a clip of Schwarber's remarks after the big win against Great Britain.
