Comedian Roseanne Barr is making her television comeback more than eight years after she was fired by ABC in the wake of a tweet that mocked an Obama administration official.

According to Page Six, Barr just completed shooting eight episodes of a new series called Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable. Barr posted news of the upcoming show on X, declaring, "Meemaw is coming and no one is safe."

In addition to Barr, 76, the rest of the cast features performers who are known for being openly conservative, even publicly supporting President Donald Trump -- an exceedingly rare occurrence in lefty Hollywood. Randy Quaid plays Barr's husband in the series, and 54-year-old Drea de Matteo, of The Sopranos fame, plays her daughter. Comedians Jon Lovitz and Tony Hinchcliffe also have roles on the show.

The show centers on Barr's character, "a fiercely patriotic prepper grandma" who is the matriarch of a mixed-race family living in Texas. She "sets out to save America, take down a criminal empire, and throw her granddaughter the perfect Bat Mitzvah." Barr co-wrote the show with Allan Stephan and Allen Covert, according to Page Six, and self-funded its production while it was secretly shot.

'I don't want to sound too corny but f**k it -- working with Roseanne might be one of the most cherished highlights of my entire life,' de Matteo told the Daily Mail.

"I want everybody who disagrees in a family to sit in the same room and just laugh and go, 'Yeah, maybe I was an a**hole that time. Well, you were an a**hole this time. Oh, we're all a**holes. Let's get a beer,'" Barr said of the upcoming show.

Barr rocketed to fame with her sitcom Roseanne, which ran on ABC from 1988 to 1997. The network revived the sitcom in March of 2018. Not long after, Barr posted a tweet saying then-White House adviser Valerie Jarrett looked like the "Muslim brotherhood and Planet of the Apes had a baby." Barr came under heavy criticism for the remark, and later apologized saying she didn't know Jarrett was of African-American descent. ABC fired her anyway and canceld the sitcom not long after.

Dave Rubin, who's been friends with Barr for years, sat down with her in 2024 to discuss the ordeal. Barr told him she posted the tweet after drinking several beers and taking Ambien, the sleeping pill. Watch the full interview with her below.
