'Ringleader' accused of organizing plot to attack UFC event at White House is illegal immigrant

Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, charged in a foiled attack on the White House, is an illegal immigrant.

The man federal authorities say was the "key ringleader" of foiled plot to attack the UFC Freedom 250 event held at the White House over the weekend is an illegal immigrant from Mexico, authorities announced on Thursday.

Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez is one of five suspects arrested and accused of hatching an elaborate plot to attack Sunday's event, which doubled as an 80th birthday celebration for President Donald Trump, with small drones and snipers. 

Tycen Proper,19, of Ohio, was among those arrested after family members contacted authorities over concerns about the stockpile of firearms he was amassing as well as his involvement with a shadowy group of online cohorts. Daniel Eskridge, Bryan Omar Roa, and Michael Alan Thomas are the three other suspects who have been arrested and charge in the alleged plot. 

According to CBS News, the group was targeting President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Elon Musk, as well as U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, and U.S. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

Alvarez, 31, was arrested in Omaha, Nebraska, the Department of Homeland Security said, and has been living illegally in the U.S. for more than 25 years. Federal officials say Alvarez came into the U.S. on a B2 visitor visa that expired in December 2001. He simply never left the country as he was required to do and, in accordance with DACA, the Obama administration's 2014 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, has been allowed to remain in the U.S. ever since. Immigration officials have lodged a detainer for Alavarez, who authorities say went by the alias "Shepherd."

"This illegal alien from Mexico should never have been allowed in our country. He was the ringleader of a failed terror attack," Homeland Security Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement. "He will face justice and swiftly be removed from our country.”

The five suspects are facing federal charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on the White House grounds.
