Randy Quaid goes scorched-earth against Hollywood star picked to join Tom Cruise in 'Days of Thunder' sequel

Randy Quaid, the eccentric actor who co-starred in the original Days of Thunder film, unleashed an epic rant about a casting decision announced by Tom Cruise over the weekend, blasting the Hollywood star selected to co-star in the upcoming sequel as "a leftist, woke, horrible choice" who is "not sexy."
Quaid's rant came in response to Tom Cruise announcing that a sequel to the 1990 car-racing thriller was going into production and would co-star Anne Hathaway, an A-list actress who's appeared in three summer blockbusters this year: The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey and The End of Oak Street. Quaid posted multiple tweets explaining his opposition to the casting decision.
Cruise, probably the world's biggest movie star, made the announcement Saturday in a pair of posts on X, which have racked up more than 22 million views and counting. In one post, Cruise and a noticeably pregnant Hathaway, 43, appear in a video together standing in front of a Days of Thunder-themed racecar, and they go on to inform the audience that the sequel will hit theaters in the summer of 2028. They'll start making the movie right after Hathaway gives birth, they told the audience.
In addition to opposing Hathaway's politics, Wade also supports bringing Nicole Kidman, Cruise's ex-wife who co-starred with him in the first movie, back for the sequel.
"The sexy older chick for Tom in this film needs to be Nicole. That’s the casting that would sell the idea," Quaid said, at one point in his multi-tweet rant, imploring Cruise, "Don't be a p***sy." The eccentric and often amusing Quaid added, "If I were in control of production, a real sequel worth watching for DAYS OF THUNDER would be seeing Tom and Nicole together on screen again."
According to Page Six, Cruise, 64 and Kidman, 59, haven't worked together onscreen since divorcing 25 years ago. The sequel is reportedly set to hit theaters on June 2, 2028.
