The three fatalities bring the U.S. death toll to 17 since the war began in late February.
The two fatalities occurred Friday when Iran attacked Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The deaths of Gonzales and Feehan were the 15th and 16th U.S. fatalities to occur in the war with Iran. The service member killed in Iraq on Saturday is the 17th death. "Godspeed, heroes," Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said in a post on X. "Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve."
Congresswoman Mayra Flores of Texas expressed her condolences in a post on X Monday, saying, "Our hearts are heavy for 19-year-old Pvt. Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton, TX, who made the ultimate sacrifice serving our nation. Her courage and devotion will never be forgotten. Prayers for her family. Rest in peace, Isabella. 🇺🇸"
The Department of War acknowledged the death of the service member in Iraq, but said it would not identify the individual until family members were notified.
