New poll shows even a huge number of Democrats reject Hasan Piker

Nearly 80% of everyday Americans reject Hasan Piker, according to a new poll.

A new poll released Wednesday shows an overwhelming percentage -- more than three-quarters -- of everyday Americans reject the ideas espoused by extremist podcaster Hasan Piker. The new poll, out just a little more than 60 days ahead of the midterm elections, brings some positive news for Republicans and shows Kamala Harris back out front among the Democrats 2028 field and JD Vance holding on as the likely GOP nominee in '28. 

"Should Democrats embrace or reject people like Hasan Piker, who said America 'deserved 9/11'?" participants in the August edition of the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll were asked. Overall, 77% of those surveyed responded that Piker should be rejected. Breaking it down by political party, the poll showed 79% of Republicans reject Piker and his extremist rhetoric and even 72% of Democrats reject him.

Many far-left Democrats running for office, or supporting candidates, have been reluctant to denounce Piker or distance themselves from him, most notably Abdul El-Sayed, the U.S. senate candidate in Michigan facing Republican Mike Rogers. This poll may provide them cover to now do so as it lays bare how unpopular Piker is with the general American public. Poll participants were asked a similar question about Candace Owens, and the results were similar with 75% of those surveyed rejecting her rhetoric on Israel and Jews. Some 75% of Republicans polled reject Owens and 76% of Democrat voters reject her, according to the poll.

The poll also showed the 2026 generic congressional ballot tightening, with Democrats holding a 51%-49% lead over Republicans among registered voters polled. However the numbers flipped among likely voters, with Republicans holding a 51%-49%. In July, Democrats held a two-point lead among likely voters and in March, the poll showed, Democrats enjoyed a four-point advantage. 

Looking ahead to the 2028 presidential race, the poll found former Vice President Kamala Harris is on top for Democrats with a wide lead over California Gov. Gavin Newsom and AOC, who didn't even register 10% in the poll, despite other forecasts showing her as the leader headed into 2028. On the Republican side, Vice President JD Vance holds a commanding lead with 44% support, more than double the support for Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was at 21%.
