Two days after federal authorities raided the Washington, D.C., home of U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar, more details are emerging about the probe into the controversial Minnesota congresswoman.

According to Fox News, the investigation is deepening with a federal grand jury issuing subpoenas to Omar's relatives, including her sister. In addition, Omar's finances are coming under new scrutiny from Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. Pirro is probing the purported accounting errors the congresswoman has blamed for wild swings in the self-reported value of her net worth on financial disclosure forms.

On top of all that, it was revealed that the congresswoman's staff members had her birth date officially changed in 2019. Omar's birthday had been listed as October 4, 1981, but congressional staffers had it changed to October 4, 1982, The New York Post reported, after a political opponent accused her of lying about her age. The changes were made in official congressional documentation and can be seen in the embedded X post below.

The precise date of her birth is important because it dovetails with her naturalization as a U.S. citizen, which occurred in 2000 -- and a one-year differential in her birthday means she was either naturalized as a minor or as an adult, and there are different rules for each under U.S. immigration law.

AJ Kern, who challenged Omar for her congressional seat in the 2022 election and lost, told the Post that she looked extensively into the discrepancies surrounding Omar's birth date. “For derivative citizenship, two things have to be true — one, her father had to naturalize; and two, she still had to be a minor," Kern told the Post. "And what I have found is that it’s highly likely that neither of those things are true."

Unnamed sources close to the investigation have said the probe, which actually began under the Biden administration, centers on whether Omar made false statements in her immigration paperwork. Watch the clip below for more on the story.
