Hall-of-Fame former NBA player Charles Barkley, who was known during his playing days for his power dunks, threw down a couple of thunderous dunks on modern Democrats Thursday during an interview with Chris Cuomo, calling out the party for its extreme rhetoric.

Sir Charles, as he was known during his illustrious NBA career, seemed incredulous with some of the talking points that are commonly parroted by the DSA wing of the party, which has largely high-jacked the Democrat Party at this point.

"Listen, I'm an independent who's voted Democratic most of the time," Barkley, who in his retirement has been a long-time analyst for Inside The NBA, admitted. As he answered questions about politics, he suggested he'd destroy his credibility as a TV analyst if he didn't mention how extreme some of the rhetoric coming from Democrats has become.

“Some of these people are out here talking about no ICE, no prisons, using words like socialism," Barkley said. "No cops? I think that's some of the stupidest s**t I've ever heard," he continued, blasting Democrats who in recent years have called to abolish police departments. "Like no, I don't believe in that."

Barkley said he hasn't heard any of that type of extreme rhetoric coming from Republicans. "All of them have been Democrats," he said.

Barkley also expressed support for a strong border and voter ID at the polls, a measure that senate Democrats killed again this week when they voted unanimously to block a Republican-proposed bill that would require voters to show a photo ID when voting in federal elections.

"And we need you to have ID when you go vote," Barkley added, echoing a stance he shares with about 80% of the American public, according to polling. Watch a highlight from the interview below.
