More troubling revelations emerge about Nazi-tattooed senate candidate from Maine

Graham Platner, the U.S. Senate hopeful from Maine who's the leading Democrat candidate to take on incumbent Susan Collins in the November general election, made vulgar posts on social media years ago in which he discussed his masturbation habits and praised crude graffiti of a phallus, Fox News reported on Tuesday.

The new revelations were unearthed by reporter Andrew Mark Miller and are prompting fresh concerns about his viability as a senate candidate as well as whether he's really fit to hold high office. According to the report, Platner made a lewd post on the social media site Reddit in 2017, saying, "I still have to jerk off every time I sit in a portas****er … that blue water smell conditioned me."

Platner's discussion of sexualized port-a-potty depravity didn't stop there. Four years later, Platner posted a lengthy discussion of his thoughts on a phallic drawing he once saw inside a port-a-potty while he had been deployed overseas in Kyrgyzstan, describing the crass drawing in sensational terms. The former Marine and National Guard member described the drawing of the erect penis as "beautiful," "engorged and veiny," and moving "towards its penetrative glory."

"I sat there in sheer awe," Platner wrote. "The soul filling joy to be allowed to witness such glory." His flowery description of the sketch was posted along with a photo.

Platner, 41, has also drawn heavy criticism for remarks he's previously made about sexual assault and for a chest tattoo of an infamous Nazi symbol. He had it covered up following an uproar. He's also praised the terror group Hamas in the past. Still, Platner seems to defy political gravity. Maine Gov. Janet Mills dropped out of the Democrat primary race late last month, leaving Platner poised to win the primary and advance to face longtime Senator Susan Collins in the November general election.

In an interview with The New York Times, Platner unleashed even more of his extremist rhetoric on political violence -- just within the last week. Watch a clip of the remarks and Dave's reaction to it from Monday's episode of The Rubin Report
