Billionaire former Dallas Mavericks owner and Shark Tank star Mark Cuban appeared in Washington, D.C., on Monday to announce the addition of hundreds of new prescription drugs that will be listed at discount prices on the TrumpRx website, and praised the success of the site, which was launched earlier this year.

“I’m thrilled to announce that we’re increasing the number of drugs available on TrumpRx by nearly seven times, adding over 600 affordable generics to the website, working with industry partners," Trump said at a press conference, according to The Hill. More than 550 of those medications have been listed on a similar site run by Cuban. "Cost-effective generic drugs are often available at just a tiny fraction of the price of their brand-name equivalents, and in theory, they’re the same thing.” TrumpRx launched in February with 43 prescription drugs available at lower costs to consumers.

Cuban announced that he'd partnered the online pharmacy Cost Plus Drugs that he founded with TrumpRx, and said he's been spellbound by its early success and its broad appeal for Americans of all political stripes. “I think other than you, I’ve been the biggest proponent of TrumpRx," Cuban said, "and the reason for that is Republicans want cheaper drugs, independents want cheaper drugs, Democrats want cheaper drugs -- and together I think we’re going to do something special."

Cuban touted the new deal he stuck with TrumpRx as a "special partnership" and promised consumers transparency on pricing as well as a maximum markup of no more than 15% and decreased prices as volume increases.

Cuban, of course, loudly supported Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, a point that a reporter brought up at the press conference, and asked Trump directly about. “Well, he made a mistake,” Trump remarked, smiling. “It was a big mistake.”

Cuban later laughed off Trump's remark, and dodged questions about supporting Harris in 2024 when reporters questioned him on it. The early successes of TrumpRX in bringing down prescription drug costs has surprised even its detractors.

“This is yet another example of this administration and president’s leadership making life more affordable, and it’s in a particularly important arena, because almost 1 in 3 Americans, when they go to a drugstore, cannot afford to pick up the medications that their doctor prescribed for them,” Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said at Monday's press conference. Below, watch a clip of Cuban's remarks.
