Lawyer for Lindsay Clancy appeals to Trump for pardon in desperate morning TV appearance

The defense lawyer for Lindsay Clancy showed up on Good Morning America for his first interview since a mistrial was declared by a Massachusetts judge on Friday, and said he thinks of Clancy as a daughter, that they have a strong bond and even appealed to President Trump to consider pardoning his client. 

Kevin Reddington, who over the last seven weeks became a household name for many Americans as the Clancy trial was televised and heavily covered by the media, said Clancy is "just a wonderful neighbor, friend, wife, mother. Just an incredible person." When asked about a father-daughter-like relationship that had developed between himself and Clancy, Reddington confirmed it, and answered, "I do feel a very strong bond with Lindsay because of the type of person she is."

Clancy, 36, strangled her three children -- Cora, 5, Dawson, 2, and Callan, 8 months -- in January 2023, and admitted to doing so. Reddington argued she wasn't criminally responsible by reason of insanity. The jury ended up deadlocked, 11-1 with one holdout who refused to vote not guilty.

Responding to a question about what might be next for Clancy, Reddington appealed directly to President Donald Trump. "I'd like to say that perhaps Donald Trump, who felt compelled to speak out about this case -- Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady, the type of person she is and what she’s been through, and consider a pardon,” Reddington said in a desperate attempt to save his client. 

Trump on Friday did weigh in on the case, telling reporters, "Look, she did a horrible, horrible thing. Can't be worse. But you'll find out what the price to pay. It's going to be a mental institution or jail or something. But I guess they're going to go through another trial. It's too bad."
