Lara Trump brings up little known action Trump administration is taking that could lead to big changes

It hasn't received much attention from the mainstream media, but the Trump administration in recent months announced new measures aimed at bringing a permanent end to animal testing in the U.S., a point that Lara Trump brought up during a sit-down conversation with Dave Rubin last week.
Dave and Trump, whose father-in-law is President Donald Trump, touched on a range of topics that are being debated in the news cycle. Eventually, Dave asked, "Where are you finding the moments of goodness or hope or that you know that America will stay free?" Lara Trump's answer may not be what some viewers may have been expecting.
"One of my biggest moments of joy recently is seeing the movement in the right direction, I think that this administration in particular is making, not only with health and wellness, with this president and our HHS secretary, Bobby Kennedy, but also for the animals. You know, I'm a huge animal lover," Trump said. "We're ending animal testing across this country. I think that's been a huge win."
Trump was referring to an initiative announced last month by the EPA that is aimed at "replacing outdated, slow, and inhumane animal studies with modern science that is faster, more humane, and more relevant to human health." The EPA, for the first time in five years, is updating a list of cutting-edge alternative test methods, which are meant to make animal testing obsolete. In addition, the EPA is making it easier for researchers and private companies to introduce alternatives to animal testing, which the agency calls NAMS, or New Approach Methods.
"When the Trump Administration makes a commitment, we deliver," EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said in a statement. "With today’s announcement, we’re accelerating the shift to modern, gold standard science – without the use of animal testing – by using new, innovative methods to review chemicals,” Zeldin added. “By broadening high-quality alternatives and inviting strong new candidates, we can deliver faster, more protective decisions while reducing animal testing.”
Calling for an end to animal testing has long been a cause championed by liberal advocacy groups, like PETA. However, during the Biden administration, the EPA canceled deadlines for phasing out animal testing, Zelden said. Under the new targets, the EPA is aiming to end all animal testing by the year 2035.
