In an interview with The New York Times this week, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker revealed how he thinks Democrats should be plotting retribution against Trump administration officials if they take back the White House in the next presidential election. Pritzker suggested that the tactics rolled out by Democrats and their partners in state and local governments as well as the mainstream media to stymie Donald Trump's re-election in 2024 may pale in comparison to what's in store if they win the White House in 2028.

The Illinois governor delivered the ominous threats about what Democrats might have on the menu in an interview with Lulu Garcia-Navarro, telling her he envisioned a "Project 2029 for Democrats." She then asked him what his interpretation of a "Project 2029" agenda looked like.

"One is we've got to restore the rule of law, and that means holding people accountable who've broken the law," Pritzker responded. "I’m talking about in this administration when we get a new one. The people in this administration who broke the law and federal agents who broke the law need to be held accountable."

Garcia-Navarro pressed Pritzker on whether he meant criminal prosecutions.

“Criminally prosecuted, civilly prosecuted, whatever it is that we can do. Right? It may be that you can't criminally prosecute somebody, but that you can go after them civilly,” Pritzker said, suggesting the lawfare tactic would once again be on the table as a means of destroying the lives of people who worked in the Trump administration.

Pritzker did not specify in the interview which laws have been broken by Trump administration officials, and Garcia-Navarro did not ask him if any Trump officials had broken any laws. Watch a clip from the interview below and read a transcript of it here
