Holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy trial is a Trump supporter, 'didn't have any doubts' killer mom was guilty

The lone holdout juror on the Lindsay Clancy case who voted to convict the killer Massachusetts mom is speaking out in the wake of several of his fellow jurors publicly criticizing him after the judge in the case declared a mistrial earlier this month. The jury was deadlocked 11-1 after nearly 40 hours of deliberations. 

Michael Desronvil hasn't spoken out himself, but has made numerous comments through his lawyer and a YouTuber who interviewed him. Desronvil gave his perspective on the case, pushed back on how other jurors have portrayed him in media interviews and revealed that he's a Catholic, a Republican and a Trump supporter -- and that the hail of criticism and harassment he's faced since his identity was made public is likely due to his conservative politics. Desronvil previously said in a phone interview that he thought most, if not all, of the other jurors on the case were Democrats, according to the YouTuber who spoke with him.

"I didn't have any doubts," Desronvil said in a statement that was distributed to multiple TV networks about Clancy's guilt. "Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses, and what the prosecution presents, I thought it was enough proof that she knew exactly what she was doing and planned."

Clancy's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, made an attempt to have Desronvil thrown off the jury as the panel remained deadlocked during deliberations, but the judge overruled the motion. Desronvil said deliberations were contentious from the start and that eight women began deliberations with their minds already made up that Clancy was not guilty by reason of insanity. One other juror, like him, believed Clancy was guilty when deliberations began. By the end, only Michael and one other juror still believed Clancy was guilty, but that juror eventually flipped.

In a post on X, Edward Andrew Paltzik, Desronvil's lawyer, hailed his new client as "an American Hero and Champion of Justice." He went on to say in the post that Desronvil "loves the United States of America as the greatest country in the world; cherishes our sacred Constitution as the pinnacle of human liberty; and supports our amazing leader, President Donald J. Trump, as a fellow defender of common-sense, liberty, and sanity."

In a separate post, Paltzik added that he's been flooded with requests from the media but that Desronvil won't be giving any interviews, though he's planning on "sharing more information in the coming days."

Meanwhile, an online fundraiser for Desronvil, organized by supporters who believe he's been treated unfairly for standing his ground on the case, was nearing $300,000 on Friday. Clancy is scheduled to appear in court again on September 29. It's possible she could be re-tried for the 2023 strangulation killings of her three young children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan.
