The executive director of Gen-Z For Change, a liberal advocacy group, says numerous 'credible women' are preparing to come forward with sexual harassment claims against Eric Swalwell, a U.S. representative from California who is also running to be the state's next governor.

According to videos posted on Instagram by Cheyenne Hunt, the top executive at Gen-Z For Change, several former Swalwell staffers are planning to go public "soon" with claims of sexual harassment against the federal lawmaker. Some of the women are former interns in Swalwell's office.

The number of credible women who have come forward since I posted my first video is really shocking," Hunt said in a video posted on Instagram over the weekend. She was referring to a video she posted late in March in which she said Swalwell "has a known history of being predatory toward women."

In that video, Hunt posted the contents of a text message sent from a woman who claimed Swalwell approached her online when she was 19 years old. "You know Eric Swalwell has slept with many of his interns and makes them all sign NDAs so they don't speak up, right? And when I was 19 he tried hitting on me and sliding into my DMs and I have so many other friends that have similar experiences with him," the text message read.

In the video posted over the weekend, Hunt said she is "personally working with a group of women who want to come forward and share their stories," adding that she's been aware of rumors about Swalwell's alleged misconduct for years. "Many of these women have remained silent for so long because they believed that they were alone and that if they came forward, it would ruin their careers," Hunt said. "It appears that others may have stayed silent because of a belief that non-disclosure agreements required them to keep this secret." She added that she's "also aware of a much larger group that is also in this process."

Swalwell has not commented on the claims. He continues to push forward with his gubernatorial campaign, posting a video Monday on social media blaming President Trump for increasing the cost of his breakfast.

Recent polling on California's governor race has shown two Republicans in the lead ahead of California's primary, which will be held on June 2. According to California's election process, only the top two finishers in the primary will advance to the November general election, meaning Democrats are already in danger of not having a candidate on the ballot in the general election.

Swalwell has been polling in third place, right behind Steve Hilton, whom Trump endorsed on Monday, and Chad Bianco -- the two GOP candidates leading the race. Right behind Swalwell, the lead Democrat in the race, is former state lawmaker Katie Porter, recent polling shows. Swalwell has faced other controversies in his past, including being tricked into a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy. And he once went viral after a moment of audible flatulence during an a live appearance on MSNBC.
