DEI rot still plaguing higher education in America as audio of woke ritual at law school emerges

Despite the Trump administration's aggressive efforts to root DEI and wokeism out of universities across the U.S., the far left ideology is still plaguing some of the largest and most prestigious graduate schools in the nation.

According to an explosive report published by Aaron Sibarium of The Washington Free Beacon, Penn State University's Dickinson Law school is subjecting students to mandatory anti-racism classes, in which they are required to "acknowledge the reality of systemic racism" and "dismantle systems that racialize, subordinate, and oppress." The course is packed with the type of concepts and language that have been embraced by far left Marxists and which proliferated widely during the Biden administration.

Leaked audio obtained by The Washington Free Beacon revealed that the faculty member who delivered the requirements to the newbie law students was a person named Emily Spottswood, a man who identifies as a transgender woman. It’s not optional," Spottswood can be heard saying in reference to the mandatory course, because "being a lawyer is about recognizing and combating injustice."

Spottswood goes on to say that "as a trans woman," the course's "focus from the outset on recognizing and combating oppression and injustice is meaningful to me in a way I cannot describe."

The law school's heavy-handed anti-racism rhetoric was so demoralizing it caused at least one first-year law student to drop out from the state-funded university. Sibarium's story goes on to detail the experiences of David Blackman, a 26-year-old veteran of the Texas National Guard, who showed up for law school as a huge Penn State fan, but after being bombarded with so-called anti-racism messaging from other high-ranking members of the law school, eventually decided enough was enough. It's well worth reading the full piece.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the U.S. Department of Justice made formal allegations against the Yale School of Medicine after a year-long investigation of the Ivy League medical school found that Asian and white students have been systematically discriminated against for years when it comes to admissions, The Washington Post reported

"Yale’s use of race resulted in a black applicant being as much as 29 times higher odds of getting an interview for admission than an equally strong Asian applicant with similar academic credentials," the Justice Department concluded. It found that the median GPA for black and Hispanic students who were admitted was 3.88 and 3.91, respectively. White and Asian students were held to a higher GPA mark the investigation showed, at 3.97 and 3.98, respectively.

Plus, the white and Asian students who were admitted had significantly higher entrance exam scores, with the school requiring those scores to be almost perfect for white and Asian students to be admitted.

Yale medical school "continues to intentionally discriminate against applicants based on their race," the Justice Department said, in violation of a 2023 Supreme Court ruling that banned race-based affirmative action in college admissions. The Justice Department pressed Yale in a letter to resolve the problem on its own without legal action, and issued a similar letter last week to UCLA's medical school after recognizing a similar trend there also.
