Supporters of Luigi Mangione, the lone suspect in the Dec. 2024 assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, have apparently infiltrated the press corps covering the case and made a number of shocking statements outside the courthouse in New York City on Monday where a pre-trial hearing was held.
Lena Weissbrot and Ashley Rojas, two members of a trio calling itself "the Mangionistas" attended a court hearing in lower Manhattan on Monday and spoke with New York Daily News reporter Molly Crane-Newman about why exactly they were on hand. "We're essentially here to be Luigi Mangione's advocates," Rojas declared.
The two women each wore press credentials issued by the city around their necks along with buttons pinned on their shirts featuring the face of Mangione. They're also there to cover the case, Rojas said when asked whether they were reporting on the trial. "We'll act as press since it's very obvious that legacy media has some sort of agenda against Luigi Mangione and his supporters."
Weissbrot chimed in saying, "Let's be honest -- most average Americans support him. We're fed up with being exploited and treated like cattle." She went on to accuse health insurance companies in general of stealing money from Americans.
It didn't take long for the would-be reporters to take on a profane tone. "We're pretty much the most cucked and submissive population in all of human history, and I'm tired of it," Weissbrot said. "It's time for everyone to grow some f**king" -- Rojas chimed in to help finish her sentence -- "balls," the two crazed Mangione supporters said simultaneously.
“I’m saying f**k Brian Thompson. I don’t give a flying f**k he died,” Rojas added. In an apparent bid to outdo her fellow Mangionista, Weissbrot then escalated the rhetoric even further, "His children are better off without him. They need to learn not to be like their dad."
Dave Rubin weighed in on the shocking remarks from the women, saying their extremist rhetoric is symbolic of how far gone the left has become. "A growing portion of the radical left wants you dead. That's not hyperbole or exaggeration, and there’s no adults in the party to stop it."
Brian Thompson, 50, was gunned down from behind, execution style, early on a December morning in 2024 on the streets of midtown Manhattan as he was walking toward a hotel to attend a health care conference. He is survived by a wife and two sons.
Mangione faces murder charges, both state and federal, and a judge ruled on Monday that jurors will be allowed to see some of the evidence collected by police when they arrested Mangione in the days after Thompson's killing, but not all of it, according to The New York Post.
