The brother of the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy case, which ended in a mistrial earlier this month, says his family is being harassed by true crime enthusiasts and social media fanatics since he name was revealed by some on social media.

As the uproar has ensued following the mistrial, the holdout juror, identified as a black man in his mid-30s by another juror on the case, has been the subject of furious speculation and, at times, open derision. The backlash against him is so intense it has caused the judge who declared the mistrial to seal the juror's name over safety concerns.

Meanwhile, the juror's brother spoke out to The New York Post and said it came as a complete surprise to him and his family that his brother had been serving on the Clancy jury, and that his family fears leaving home due to all the people showing up at their residence. "My family cannot leave the house," he told The Post. "They are leaving notes at my mother’s house. They won’t leave us alone, and we don’t know anything."

The juror's brother also gave some insight into how his brother reached the decision to not acquit Clancy. “He looked at the case, and he made the call,” the juror's brother told The Post. “For me, that’s how I would do it. I would just listen to the case with all the evidence, and go from there.”

He added that religion wasn't a factor in how his brother, who he said is Catholic, viewed the case. Many online commenters have suggested the holdout jurors faith guided his deliberations. “I don’t think religion had anything to do with it,” the brother said.
