Kerry Sheron, 69, a veteran of the U.S. Army, died over Memorial Day weekend in the hospital after a stranger attacked and brutally beat him last week. Sheron was known for his home that was decorated in celebration of the U.S. and of President Donald Trump, leading it to become known as the "Trump House."

Sheron's home in San Diego was festooned with a copious amount of American flags as well as Donald Trump imagery, including the iconic photo of Trump pumping his fist in the air after being shot in the ear during a July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

According to Fox News, Sheron's home was subjected to vandalism for years and also drew repeated complaints. He was attacked outside his home last week and savagely beaten, Deputy District Attorney Ross Garcia said, according to Fox News. The local NBC station reported that the attack was caught on video by a nearby security camera. Sheron was standing in front of the house when he was approached by a perpetrator, who slugged Sheron in the jaw.

Sheron dropped to the ground after being punched, and the suspect continued to savagely beat Sheron, before fleeing the scene. Sheron was hospitalized and died Sunday night, Maria Garcia, his wife, told NBC 7 of San Diego.

Police later arrested 32-year-old Thomas Caleb Butler and charged him with attempted murder, elder abuse, battery, and making criminal threats. Butler is reportedly a veteran of the U.S. Navy and has been suffering from PTSD. According to the deputy district attorney, the charges against Butler would be upgraded if Sheron died from his injuries.
