AOC throws Ed Sheeran under the bus amid 'Free Palestine' controversy, continues promoting genocide narrative

Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, who last month began trying to back away from some of her "woke 1.0" rhetoric appears to have pulled another U-turn and is once again spouting woke platitudes about Gaza, "genocide" and is throwing a pop singer caught in the middle of it all under the bus. 

AOC was interviewed by TMZ on Tuesday and said that if an Ed Sheeran song came on the radio while she was driving in her car, she would change the channel. Sheeran is at the center of a major controversy surrounding one of the opening acts on his current U.S. tour, Macklemore, who at multiple concerts unleashed rants in which he accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza and demanded to "Free Palestine."

Macklemore has since been dropped from the tour, and several other opening acts have subsequently left the tour in support of the Palestine-supporting singer. AOC accused New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft of colluding with the stadium managers to "censor" Macklemore's hot takes on Middle East tensions. 

"This is about how just a handful of stadium owners and the elite can prevent an entire massive issue -- in this case the genocide in Gaza. But it doesn't stop there," AOC continued, trying to hit all the talking points it appears she's been given. "It could be speaking out about A.I., it could be speaking out any issue." 

AOC didn't provide and wasn't asked for any evidence of a genocide having occurred in Gaza, a leftist claim that's been widely debunked after Israel counterattacked in the wake of the Oct. 7, 2023 terror attack by Hamas. When pressed about what more Ed Sheeran, who has said he wants to avoid mixing music and politics, could do, she demurred somewhat, admitting that she wasn't aware of the intricacy of tour contracts and other business matters that could be behind the decision to drop Macklemore.
